Construction Safety Officer — CSO / NCSO

Job Title:
Construction Safety Officer — CSO / NCSO

Construction Safety Officer — CSO / NCSO

Third-Party Site Safety Oversight | Active Industrial & Construction Sites | Full-Time · Part-Time

Medix EMS is a British Columbia-based industrial and event medical services company providing occupational first aid, paramedic services, and integrated safety support across the province. We are currently hiring certified Construction Safety Officers (CSO) and National Construction Safety Officers (NCSO) to serve as embedded, third-party safety professionals on active industrial and construction client sites.

This is a site-level leadership role. You will work directly on the ground alongside client crews as the designated safety authority — ensuring WorkSafeBC compliance is upheld while keeping client operations running productively and within regulation. The goal is not to slow work down. It is to make sure it gets done safely, compliantly, and without interruption.

The Role

As a Medix EMS CSO, you are deployed to client sites as an independent, third-party safety professional. You do not work for the client — you work for Medix EMS, and you represent an objective, credentialed oversight presence. This distinction is what gives our clients confidence that their safety program is being managed by someone whose only mandate is compliance and worker safety.

You will lead safety programs, conduct inspections, manage documentation, and serve as the primary liaison between frontline crews, site supervisors, and WorkSafeBC requirements — helping our clients remain functional, productive, and fully compliant at all times.

Responsibilities

▪       Serve as third-party safety oversight on active industrial and construction client sites

▪       Lead and manage client safety programs including orientations, toolbox talks, inspections, and audits

▪       Monitor and enforce WorkSafeBC compliance and BC OHS Regulation on behalf of client organizations

▪       Identify hazards and work collaboratively with site supervisors to resolve them efficiently, keeping operations moving

▪       Maintain thorough documentation of site activities, inspections, near-misses, incidents, and due diligence records

▪       Act as the bridge between client management, frontline crews, and regulatory requirements

▪       Conduct incident investigations and support corrective action follow-up

▪       Support clients in building a safety culture that is both compliant and operationally practical

▪       Represent Medix EMS professionally in all client-facing and site interactions

Qualifications

Required

▪       Valid CSO certification, or NCSO designation

▪       Proven hands-on experience on active industrial or construction sites

▪       Solid working knowledge of BC OHS Regulation and WorkSafeBC compliance requirements

▪       Confident, approachable leadership presence on site — you earn respect, not just compliance

▪       Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills

▪       Valid BC driver's licence, Class 5 minimum, and clean criminal record check

Assets

▪       OFA Level 2 or Level 3 certification

▪       Experience in multiple industrial sectors (energy, utilities, heavy construction, mining)

▪       Prior experience in a third-party or consulting safety role

▪       Familiarity with WorkSafeBC inspection processes and officer interactions
