Medic - Wildfire and Natural Emergency (Provincial / National)

Wage: $29.32 p/hr plus daily OT

Additional: LOA $50.00 p/day (if not in camp)

Medix EMS is hiring First Aiders, Medics, Paramedics and Drivers for our 2024 Wildfire Season and Natural Disaster Response (Provincial / National). We are looking qualified individuals who are available and able to deploy to various provincial wildfire emergencies and any provincial or national natural emergencies that may require services. We are looking for those wanting to grow their emergency medical careers by joining a team of passionate and professional responders dedicated to patient care in pre-hospital settings. We offer flexible scheduling, industry leading wages, enhanced safety training and Continuing Education courses for EMA licensed individuals. Our Emergency Operations Team is now accepting applications for certified and licensed medical professionals in the following areas:

• British Columbia
• Out of Province Applicants that hold BC certifications and are able to reside in BC while employed.

Provincial Medic Position:

• WCB AFA certification,
• or EMR or PCP Licensed and in good standing with BC EMA Licensing,
• old valid CPR,
• Hold a valid S100 and S185
• Must pass a Physical Fitness Exam
• Clean criminal record,
• Clean BC driving history with minimum of BCDL Class 5,

Secondary Provincial Medic and Driver Position:

• Hold a minimum of BCDL Class 5,
• WCB Basic certification with Transport Endorsement, minimum,
• or AFA, EMR or PCP Licensed and in good standing with BC EMA Licensing,
• Hold valid CPR,
• Hold a valid S100 and S185
• Must pass a Physical Fitness Exam
• Clean criminal record,
• Clean BC driving history with proof via drivers abstract,

This position is specifically for BC Wildfire Deployments that will last 14 days and for all Natural Disaster / Emergency deployments; with the option to continue in casual event medic positions. If hired, you will expected to deploy on at least 1 rotation within a short notice time frame. During deployments all members are provided housing in either a camp (tenting or trailer) setting or a hotel. If in a camp setting meals and all personal needs are provided for. If in a hotel a daily LOA subsidy of $50.00 per day is provided. Deployment locations are throughout British Columbia but will depart from the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island. Medics and Drivers will be expected to pack for varied weather conditions, bring personal necessities and bring anti-boredom devices to remain occupied during off duty hours.

Commitment requirements are a minimum of 1 rotation of 14 days. National Natural Emergencies will be 19 days with the opportunity of extension. Those applicants whom do not have S100 and S185 Fire Avoidance training, Medix EMS will pay for certification after 1 deployment.
